Groundbreaking:
First United Methodist ChurchSalisbury,
N.C.—First United Methodist Church
of Salisbury celebrated the groundbreaking for its new Fisher Street addition on Sunday, September 20th, following
the 11:00 worship service. The church’s Senior Pastor Steve Haines, along with other church and community officials
led the groundbreaking service which used responsive readings, scriptures, and other prayers that were used for the sanctuary’s
groundbreaking service in 1961. In addition, the church’s chancel choir sang music of Henry Purcell and John Rutter
as part of the service. This service culminated
many years of dedicated visioning and planning. The new building will expand the current ministries of the church by providing
easier handicap access to the sanctuary, an enlarged sacristy, a new music suite, a bridal parlor and multi-purpose room,
a columbarium, and additional restrooms. First
United Methodist Church of Salisbury is proud of being a worship and mission-oriented congregation in Salisbury for 226 years.
The church looks forward to new opportunities for the congregation to continue its rich tradition of community service and
outreach through this new addition to the church campus. For more information, please contact the church office at (704) 636-3121.

Planting
a garden at Park Avenue!
Participants in the New Tomorrows
ministry, along with Coburn Memorial member Mark Eagle (left), began working recently on flower beds at Park Avenue in Salisbury.
Gardening is one of the many activities offered at New Tomorrows. Other classes include Bible study, cooking, creativity and
even yoga! If you have a talent to share you can serve as a volunteer. Take time to visit New Tomorrows on a Monday, Wednesday
or Friday morning and see how this ministry is striving to minister with the homeless in the Park Avenue neighborhood! We
especially need pastors who could commit to come one day a week for a three week session to teach Bible study.
For more information
about New Tomorrows please contact our Ministry Coordinator, Lisa Kasprzak, at 704-633-4219 or Pastor Annalee Allen at
704-433-2773.
